Italian Grotto – Hipsters and Cool Cats welcome!
If ambiance and great food is your scene, grab your favorite gal and head down to the Italian Grotto for a fabulous romantic dinner in Old Town. So hip and cool, Schmooze almost expected to see the Rat Pack sipping cocktails in the corner! The Italian Grotto has long had an outstanding reputation in Old Town for it’s flair and fine food but Schmooze wanted to see for ourselves and we weren’t disappointed. Our server was attentive and his recommendations were solid, so we left the food selection in his capable hands and instead enjoyed the ambiance (okay so we are easily amused by shiny things). Roaming around the restaurant and trying not to scare anyone, Schmooze enjoyed a sampling of the timeless decor decorating almost every inch of the walls (we only stopped to straighten one picture I swear).
The fieldtrip back in time was soon interrupted by our food, Chicken Piccata, which we should add is a house specialty. Breast of chicken sauteed in white wine, lemon, butter and capers it was so beautifully presented it was a shame to eat it! The chicken was accompanied by pasta, bread and salad of course but don’t fill up too much, the dinner portions are sizeable. The taste was exquisite, a perfect blend of flavor that delighted the taste buds and the only regret was not saving room for the Tiramisu!
Take a step back in time to the Italian Grotto!
