D’lish – Health Conscious Kitchen and Coffee House
It’s all about me. Those of you who have read this blog know that I only write about the places I love to eat at. I am basically narcissistic at heart and two of my favorite passions are red wine and coffee. Let me stress, I am from Seattle, so I consider myself somewhat of a coffee snob (okay really I am a full-fledged snob). So I was a little shocked to discover a coffee shop near Old Town that had completely escaped my abilities to sniff out a decent coffee shop (thank you for a flat tire and a nearby Discount Tire for the revelation).
Let me just assure you that D’lish is legit. They really serve up some great coffee. Hot, iced, dirty chai, espresso, latte, Americano. I didn’t even faze them with my sugar-free hazelnut, soy latte. Okay so granted it isn’t a difficult drink. All of the coffee is free trade, natural and locally roasted. For you non-coffee types, they also have a great selection of teas, smoothies, kombucha and juice.
Jonesing for a breakfast? D’Lish has a plethora of menu choices. Croissant sandwich, breakfast burrito, veggie burrito, frittatas, bialys, bagels and a low carb option. I recommend the oatmeal. This is not your mom’s boring oatmeal, instead it is made from organic quinoa, vanilla macaroon granola, lite maple syrup and seasonal fruit.
But let’s not mistake this as a typical morning stop-off, D’Lish also serves soup, salads, sandwiches, wraps, veggie burgers and rice bowls until 4pm. Menu options support vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free, protein packed and balanced and all food is a healthy alternative to fast food. And we can all use that option!
