Daily Dose – more than a great breakfast!
We know you love Daily Dose for breakfast but do you know they serve lunch, dinner and have a great Happy Hour also! Yep, believe us when we say that Daily Dose has it all covered and they are definitely worth a try when you want more than breakfast!
Daily Dose takes great pride in serving fresh food made only from the best ingredients, no shortcuts here! Now maybe you think this attention to detail means higher prices, but let us assure you that Daily Dose is more than reasonable with lunch entrees almost all under $10 and dinner entrees under $12. Want an even better deal, stop by during Happy Hour from 4pm – 9pm during summer and you will find many wonderful things on the menu at a price that won’t break the bank.
We stopped by last week during Happy Hour to check things out for ourselves and thought you might be interested in what we discovered. Now we like to think we know a thing or two about Happy Hour but we were overwhelmed by our choices on the Happy Hour menu. Can you say over 20 items specially priced just for Happy Hour? Yep, made our choices oh so tough, but remember we are trained professionals and didn’t let the challenge daunt us! Just a quick note, we definitely need to do a follow-up visit to check out more of the menu, our appetites just weren’t up to the task of trying everything we would have liked!
We started with the Charred Chicken Pouches, Charred chicken with herb cream cheese served in a crispy wonton on top of a sesame orange glaze and balsamic reduction. The name intrigued us and the taste simply did not disappoint. Plus I have to tell you we love food that we can touch.
Next up, we tried the Rock Shrimp Cocktail, rock shrimp, avocado, cucumber and celery soaked in a cilantro citrus tomato broth. Perfect for the summer if you want something light, favorable and delicious. The chips were light and crispy and the cocktail was impressive, a good choice to pair up with the mango mojito but we will get to the drinks later.
For those of you who like healthy alternatives, may we suggest the Orange Sesame Chicken Skewers? They are as good as they look and at $5.99 on the Happy Hour menu, you can have a great meal and still have a bit left over in your wallet. The skewers are pan seared all natural chicken breast glazed in an orange sesame sauce and topped with toasted sesame seeds. The real treat here lies under the chicken, they are served on a jalapeno mango puree so make sure not to skip it. It gives the chicken just the right amount of bite!
Sliders are a Happy Hour staple and Daily Dose has 4 to choose from. Here we were conflicted between the Black and Blue Chicken Sliders or the Meatball Marinara ones. Again, we will need to come back and try the chicken sliders, but the meatball ones were terrific and a great change from more traditional sliders. The meatballs are simmered in a house red sauce and topped with marinara and Swiss cheese.
Someone in our group decided to order off the regular menu, and after we tasted his choice we are glad he did! The Spicy Chicken & Waffle had us all curious (yeah we know it killed the cat) and let me tell you it is as fun as it sounds. The grilled chicken breast is served in a spicy vegetable cream sauce and spooned over a grilled corn waffle. The result is then topped with sliced avocado and crispy tortilla strips. There are layers of goodness here and the waffle is a great touch, it smacks of comfort food!
Did I mention drinks, of course we had a few… it was Happy Hour after all. Drinks are specially priced during Happy Hour which as I mentioned runs from 4pm – 9pm during the summer, so no need to break land speed records getting here before Happy Hour is over. Don’t worry, they will wait for you!
The Mango Mojito was a personal favorite and complimented the Rock Shrimp and the Chicken Skewers. It was very refreshing and a perfect drink for the summer. Cruzan Mango Rum and mango nectar muddled with fresh mint and orange slices with a float of Gosling’s Black Seal Rum. Yep very nice and drinkable!
Prefer berries instead? Try the Wild Berry Lemonade! Three Olives Berry Vodka, homemade lemonade with strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries. Yep that’s a whole bushel of berry goodness!
If frozen drinks are your thing (brain freeze) try one of the swirled slushie cocktails. We had the Daily Dose Sangria, which features the house red and white wine, champagne, spirits and fresh juice.
Daily Dose is a great neighborhood spot perfect for meeting friends, it features a great covered patio and plenty of inside or outside seating depending on what you prefer. Breakfast is served from 7am – 4pm, Lunch 10 am – 4pm and Happy Hour/dinner from 4pm – 9pm until Sept 30th. They are open 7 days a week and have free Wi-FI.
